3 Quick Tips for the Magnet Application Manual

As care delivery continues to move to the outpatient setting, ANCC’s Magnet Recognition Program® is putting an increased focus on ambulatory care nursing. Here are some tips to navigate ambulatory-related requirements in the 2019 Magnet Application Manual:
- EP21EO asks for patient satisfaction outcomes for ambulatory areas. If no national benchmarks are available from the vendor, identify the next highest possible benchmark.
- International applicants: the word “vendor” is often used when describing a company that collects data from multiple organizations and provides external benchmarks. For Magnet® purposes, the word vendor is the same as “externally managed database.” International organizations must contribute to an externally managed database that accepts data from similar organizations.
- When writing your application document, make sure the narrative describes the initiative that was implemented in the ambulatory area, and that you are reporting only ambulatory data.
